SECOND PERIOD (7 JULY – 19 SEPTEMBER 1864)
During the Second Period, the distribution of Imperial Eagle stamps became more organized. District overprints and numbered consignments were introduced to improve postal accounting and control.
The expansion of the postal network increased the circulation of stamps throughout Mexico. Covers from smaller sub-offices remained less common and are particularly interesting to collectors.
